a) Lento ma non troppo ;
b) Andante ma non troppo e con gran delicatezza ;

a) Lento ma non troppo ;
b) Andante ma non troppo e con gran delicatezza ;
c) Reprise du Lento initial (reprise du Lento initial) ».

Incantation for violin and strings was created during the Chimay Festival by the Pollensa Orchestra (Spain) under the direction of the composer in 1974. This atonal dodecaphonic work was dedicated to the Prince and Princess CARAMAN CHIMAY in the castle where it was created.

The work is dedicated “In Memoriam of Pierre Mizoule” to his friend from Aujac (in France) whose death affected him deeply. Aujac is a village in the Cevennes where Eric Feldbusch took refuge in 1940 (with other young people from Liege). He returned there on holiday almost every year starting in 1957. He forged strong and long-standing friendships there. Aujac was for him a refuge and a place of inspiration.

Incantation is a poem for violin in one movement, divided into three main sections:
a) Lento ma non troppo;
b) Andante ma non troppo e con gran delicatezzo;
c) Repeat of the initial Lento “.
“The main theme is a sad, even anguished, song, from which arise the accents of revolt, and which is built on a hopeful note, underlined by an arpeggio “mezzotinto” on the solo violin.
The writing is inspired by dodecaphonic technique, particularly noticeable in the string accompaniment, very often contrasting with long phrases played by the violin.” (This text was also included in the programme of the Chimay Festival 1974)
